"THE POP" was a music program that was broadcast on commercial television mainly in the Kanto region in 1978 and was loved by Western music fans. This is a must-see title for Western music fans, as it can be said to be a sequel to the amazing high-quality video disc GILLAN "TOKYO 1978" released this year and the title "THE POP" by Scorpions, which astonished enthusiasts. Of course, this time too, it was provided by a collector who recorded this program in real time at the time and carefully preserved the original tapes, so Western music fans who spent their youth at that time can enjoy a number of very valuable images full of nostalgic moods in amazing high quality. At that time, video equipment and tapes were expensive, and only a few fans could record and enjoy such Western music programs. Therefore, there are still very few music fans who recorded Western music programs broadcast in real time on video, and we are very grateful to the collector who carefully preserved such valuable tapes for many years. Many collectors were surprised by the high quality of the screen in GILLAN, SCORPIONS, but this time it's a Beatles special. The 13-minute broadcast is filled with promos for Twist and Shout and Help, Back in the USSR at Shea Stadium, and footage of the four solo songs, edited almost in a medley format, but it's interesting to see the brief explanation captions for each of them: John is "38 years old, currently living in New York," George is "36 years old, held a concert in Bangladesh to help refugees," Ringo is "38 years old, active in music and film after the breakup," and Paul is "36 years old, formed Wings, active in global concert tours, and will soon release the LP "London Town." However, at the time, even though it was The Beatles, it was difficult to see the members in action, so fans were probably grateful to have them. In the second half, as is typical of Western music programs, footage of popular artists of the time is introduced, and the familiar Eagles' Hotel California is accompanied by its own Japanese translation. Following the nostalgic Earth, Wind & Fire Fantasy, Ted Nugent's Wang Dang Sweet Poontang begins with the lyrics "Hard rock super guitarist Ted Nugent is going wild in Japan!! How long can you stand the sound of him on stage, with his tail on, approaching like a wild beast? Performance Announcement: Wednesday, May 17th, 6:30pm, Nippon Budokan". And there was some interesting footage at the end of the video, so I've included it without credits. (★Caddy's Final Carnival) It's a little over two minutes long, and it reports on the concert of the Caddys, who held their final concert at Korakuen Stadium on April 4th, and it's really wonderful. At the end, you can catch a glimpse of Ichiro Fukuda, and it's a nostalgic and fun video that captures the atmosphere and social conditions of the time. So, please enjoy this 30-minute recording of a precious music program from that time, which probably no one has. This is a record that will take you back to April 1978.
