The Beatles Anthology, the culmination of the 20th century's greatest musical legacy, traces the history of The Beatles from their origins to their breakup through rare recordings. This newly edited, expanded, and revised 30th anniversary edition features all new tracks, newly remixed and newly discovered recordings, and newly mastered tracks! The Beatles Anthology Project, a comprehensive history of The Beatles from their origins to their breakup, was launched in 1995 after many years of planning. It encompassed a wide range of projects, including a trilogy of rare albums, books, and video works, including TV broadcasts, and has garnered attention from Beatles fans worldwide. The trilogy of albums chronicles the band's history from pre-debut to their breakup, featuring previously unreleased studio outtakes, TV recordings, and live concert recordings. The project also features two new songs, "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love," based on recordings left behind by John Lennon. The final new track in the trilogy, "Now and Then," remained unreleased at the time, but was finally released in 2023 for the first time in 27 years. It still garnered attention as "The Beatles' final new song." Unreleased Beatles songs were previously planned for release on the album "Sessions," but were shelved. Unofficially released in the 1980s on albums like "Ultra Rare Tracks" and "Understanding Past Masters," this "Anthology" project, a trilogy of albums and a video, garnered attention at the time as a culmination of previously unreleased audio and video material. However, the "Anthology" project is a carefully curated collection, and there are still many unreleased recordings from Abbey Road Studios and live recordings and video footage from around the world, many of which are still unreleased. Future releases, including new discoveries, are anticipated. Anthology 1: Anniversary Edition This 30th anniversary edition of Anthology 1 features a newly edited and expanded version of 115 tracks, including numerous unreleased tracks from the 1995 release, including outtakes, demos, TV shows, and live performances. Compared to the original, the sound quality has been improved, and the album has been completely updated and remastered, featuring uncut editing and AI-based demixing, converting mono to true stereo. This includes newly discovered and never-before-seen tracks. Anthology 1 covers the band's early years, from their pre-debut days in Liverpool to their legendary Decca audition, the Beatlemania sensation, their first US appearance, and their first starring role in a film, all the way up to the end of 1964, when they took the world by storm. Disc 1, like the original, begins with the new song "Free as a Bird." The newly remixed version features John's vocals, enhanced for a more realistic sound, and a higher-quality performance. The album begins with the Quarrymen's performance at Woolton Church, the site of the Beatles' first meeting between John and Paul, the earliest known recording. The first two tracks, "That'll Be the Day" and "In Spite of All the Danger," feature significantly improved audio quality compared to previous releases. The legendary Decca Audition, renowned for its historical value, features a complete set of 15 tracks, including five from the original mono recording. Recorded in a newly remixed stereo format, the original mono recordings are also enhanced with rare live recordings from the Cavern Club and Hamburg Star Club, both previously unavailable. Disc 2 features the band's first recordings for EMI, studio outtakes from their debut albums "Please Please Me" and "With the Beatles," early BBC radio broadcasts, and recently unearthed recordings from the 1963 EMI House performance, all recorded in high-quality audio from new sources. Additionally, the live radio broadcast from Stockholm, Sweden, a familiar early live recording, has been demixed from mono to true stereo, highlighting the even more powerful performance. Disc 3 features the historic "Royal Variety Performance," featuring all tracks in stereo demix for the first time, including John's legendary comments. Studio session recordings from the albums "A Hard Day's Night," which served as the soundtrack for his first starring film, and "The Beatles for Sale," many of which were originally mono, are also included in stereo demix. Compared to the originals, these upgraded recordings are clearly new masters from new sound sources. This 30th anniversary edition features new masters for all tracks, including newly discovered and never-before-seen recordings. This newly edited and expanded edition includes 115 tracks, including numerous unreleased tracks, outtakes, demos, TV shows, and live performances. The Beatles / Anthology 1: Anniversary New Masters Edition CD1 includes the latest upgraded soundtracks, including a new remix of "Free as a Bird," stereo demixes of the original recordings, and new remixes.
