BEAT, the '80s KING CRIMSON reissue project, has confirmed its arrival in Japan. This superb full-length pro shot is here, replacing the official one. This work was filmed at the November 10, 2024, Los Angeles performance. It's a multi-camera pro shot. They're a super band featuring not only the original Adrian Belew and Tony Levin, but also Steve Vai and Danny Carey. Vai, in particular, has been garnering attention in recent years for his multiple, extravagant projects. Let's start by summarizing Vai's recent activities. 2024 “G3 REUNION Tour” ・January 23rd - February 10th: North America #1 (13 performances) “SATCH/VAI Tour” ・March 22nd - May 12th: North America #2 (38 performances) “PLAYS THE MUSIC OF 80S KING CRIMSON Tour” *September 12th - November 10th: North America #3 (44 performances) ←★Here★ *November 18th - December 18th: North America #4 (21 performances) 2025 ・April 24th - May 12th: Latin America (8 performances) “SURFING WITH THE HYDRA Tour” ・June 13th - August 2nd: Europe (33 performances) “PLAYS THE MUSIC OF 80S KING CRIMSON Tour” *September 1st: Nippon Budokan This is the Steve Vai schedule that has been announced to date. Last year, the original G3 reunion tour was a hot topic, but he later formed the SATCHVAI BAND with Joe Satriani. He is currently working in parallel with BEAT. The "*" above indicates a live performance at BEAT, and this Los Angeles performance was the end of the early part of the tour. It was the final concert of "North America #3." This work, which conveys such a show, is a "completely official, pro-shot." Not only is the image and sound quality excellent, but the camerawork and sound mix are also perfect, and the construction, starting with the delivery and setup at the venue, is also full of atmosphere. It has a different feel to any other streaming pro shot, and is a masterpiece that serves as an "official substitute" in both name and reality. This perfect quality depicts a full show that foreshadows the upcoming Japan tour. Of course, a plethora of '80s KING CRIMSON classics are played, but it's not just a reenactment. The show is "two-part + encore," so let's reorganize the content of each part. SET 1 (9 songs) Beat: Neurotica / Neal and Jack and Me (*) / Heartbeat / Sartori in Tangier (*) Three of a Perfect Pair: Model Man (★) / Dig Me (*) / Man With an Open Heart (*) / Industry (*) / Larks' Tongues in Aspic (Part III) (*) SET 2 (8 songs) Discipline: The Sheltering Sky / Frame by Frame / Matte Kudasai / Elephant Talk / Indiscipline Other: Waiting Man / Sleepless / Three of a Perfect Pair Encore (3 songs) Red / Thela Hun Ginjeet *Note: Songs marked with a "★" are songs never performed by the original KING CRIMSON. Songs marked with a "*" are songs the original band only performed in the '80s. ...And so it goes. The album is divided into "DISCIPLINE" (6 songs), "BEAT" (5 songs), and "THREE OF A PERFECT PAIR" (7 songs), with the addition of the then-standard "Red." It was somewhat surprising that "THREE OF A PERFECT PAIR" flourished, given the paucity of CRIMSON's 80s masterpieces, "DISCIPLINE," and "BEAT," which also gave the band its name. The album also features "Model Man," a track never performed by the original band, with Vai adding plenty of his own touch (and yet it feels natural, as expected of a Zappa disciple duo!), creating a stage that feels more like a "reinterpretation" than a "reproduction." Forty years after their breakup in 1984, 80s KING CRIMSON has been resurrected with the help of the geniuses Steve Vai and Danny Carey. This ultra-premium pro-shot serves as the official replacement for a transcendent project that still lacks an official release. As you can see from the schedule above, there are no live performances by BEAT until the Nippon Budokan, and there will likely be no better recordings than this one. This is the perfect prep for their visit to Japan. This is a multi-camera pro-shot of the "November 10, 2024 Los Angeles performance." Not only is it high-quality, but the camerawork and sound mix are perfect, and the atmosphere starting from the loading and setup at the venue is also perfect. Enjoy a full show that updates '80s KING CRIMSON with Steve Vai. This is truly a masterpiece that serves as an "official substitute."
