Badfinger's eternal masterpiece "Straight Up" produced by George Harrison and Todd Rundgren, the best work of the Apple era, is now available in the latest memorial special edition. "Straight Up" was Badfinger's third album on the Beatles' Apple label in 1971. This album, which is considered the best work of the band's career, includes the band's biggest hit single "Day After Day" and "Baby Blue," which was re-evaluated as a power pop masterpiece, as well as Leon Russell and Al Kooper's participation in the recording. Initially, production began with Geoff Emerick as producer, but since the band also participated in "All Things Must Pass" and the Concert for Bangladesh during this period, it was decided to remake it under George Harrison's production, but before it was completed, Todd Rundgren took over and it was released with a different selection of songs than the original. The album was released after many twists and turns, but the reworking made it a collection of great songs, and it became the best-selling album during the Apple era, including the hit singles, and is considered Badfinger's masterpiece. The original version has been out of print since the 1970s and has been difficult to obtain, so Beatles collectors have been waiting for a reissue for a long time, but it was finally released on CD for the first time in 1992, and a CD with different content was released in 2010, but it is now out of print. This special edition is the latest edited version that collectors will be interested in, which includes not only the original sound source of the album, but also a complete reproduction of the unfinished album in the early stages, as well as additional related sound sources such as demos and rough mixes. The first CD contains the original album on CD with the highest quality sound source from the original analog master, which is faithful to the original sound like never before. Unlike the digitally remastered sound sources released on CD so far, the analog sound source, which has been deliberately completely removed from the master record, has a natural sound of a different dimension from the previous CDs, and the difference is clear when compared to listening to it. The rich range of sound unique to analog is recorded with a comfortable and supreme sound. The second half of the album, "Studio Live Tracks: Stereo Remaster," includes studio live performances from Granada TV's "Set of Six" in 1972 and Canadian TV's "Rollin' on the River," both of which are familiar to collectors. In particular, "Set of Six" is a wonderful live version from the album, and is recorded in a stereo remaster that has been significantly upgraded from the original mono source. This is a must-listen live recording that has been completely recorded in the highest quality for the first time. The first 12 songs on the second CD are "pre-production masters" that perfectly reproduce the unfinished album that Geoff Emerick was in charge of in the early stages. The content, which is composed of early versions including original unreleased songs, has a different song selection and song order, and is a must-see as a prototype of "Straight Up." The second half of the album, "Extra Tracks," also includes related sound sources such as valuable demos and rough mixes. This album includes a magnificent unreleased version of the hidden masterpiece "Name of the Game" with Al Cooper's organ, as well as newly upgraded remastered sound sources compared to previous releases. This is the latest edited 2-CD memorial special edition as a tribute to Badfinger, whose members all passed away in their heyday due to the death of Joey Molland in March 2025! The entire album is released on CD with the highest quality sound source from the original analog master that is faithful to the original sound like never before. The 1972 TV studio live is recorded in stereo remaster for the first time. The unfinished album from the early stages is perfectly reproduced, and demos, rough mixes, and other related sound sources are also included.
