“ASIA IN ASIA” features a miraculous lineup with Greg Lake. A special version that compiles the broadcast pro shots is now available. This work includes various multi-camera professional shots centered on the “December 7, 1983: Nippon Budokan” performance. Of course, this show was also commercialized as “ASIA IN ASIA”, but this work is a live broadcast version of the TV broadcast that is different from that. What's more, this 2-disc set includes two types of live broadcasts, one from Japan and one from North America, and additional delicious bonus footage. Now, let's introduce each video individually. [DISC 1: North American broadcast version longer than the product version] The North American broadcast version will appear first. We have previously introduced the Japanese broadcast version, but this show will also be broadcast in space in the United States (dead word). The best master is now available on DVD. The main point of this broadcast is that it is longer (!) than the product version. The awesomeness suddenly explodes from the beginning. When you start the movie, Nippon Budokan is suddenly shown waiting for the performance to begin, and an interview with Greg Lake (the interviewer is Mark Goodman), which was not in the retail version, is inserted. After that, the performance begins with the familiar Japanese announcement, but it doesn't start smoothly and there are strange gaps that seem to be broadcast. Then, when the performance started, it wasn't "The Heat Goes On"... but "Time Again"! You can witness the opening scene as it happened, which was cut in the product version and could not be broadcast live on Nippon Broadcasting in time. After that, it is basically the same as the product version, and the camera work is also very similar. This is a good opportunity, so let's organize our sets. Songs broadcast in both Japan and the U.S. - Romance of Time: Time Again (★) / Here Comes The Feeling / Wildest Dreams - Alpha: Eye To Eye / The Smile Has Left Your Eyes - Others: Sketches In The Sun U.S. broadcast (DISC 1) only ・Roman to Time: Only Time Will Tell/Heat Of The Moment/Sole Survivor ・Alpha: The Heat Goes On/Open Your Eyes *Note: Songs marked with “★” are not available on the official product disc. . ...and it looks like this. As expected, there is no “Cutting It Fine” and “Daylight”, so it is not a complete version of the show, but it is the longest version that is longer than the product version/Japan Broadcasting. And you will be surprised by the quality of the longest video. As expected, it doesn't surpass the retail version, but I'm surprised that it's not inferior either. There is no white line noise or movement of the master, and the colors are vivid. Even when played side by side with the highest-quality Japanese laser disc, it does not lose at all. You can enjoy the longest version of the professional shot with visual beauty that is outside the common sense of 80's broadcasting. [DISC 2: Previous day's press conference + Japanese live broadcast version] In contrast to DISC 1 broadcast in North America, DISC 2 is the Japanese broadcast version. It contains two broadcasts, but it is extremely rare from the beginning. This is a press conference held the day before the opening performance (December 5th). At that time, it was a super treasure video that was only broadcast once and could not be seen on successive boot VHS etc. And not only is it valuable, but the contents are amazing. Just seeing these four miraculous people lined up in front of a gold folding screen is shocking, but I also want to know how they spent the three weeks since they came to Japan (that's how long they were there) in Kakan no Sato and Nagoya. They also ask questions that you would want to ask the same questions even if you travel back in time, such as "How will Asia change after joining?" and "Will Asia continue with this member in the future?" The members' answers to that question are profound. Steve Howe said, ``I think Greg's voice is perfect for ASIA. (The next album) might have a more mature sound.'' Greg responded, ``I want it to be even more progressive.'' Now I wonder how serious they are, but in the first place Howe and Greg sit side by side and talk about one piece of music...the sight itself is eye-opening. Following such a rare press conference is the main part of the live show. To be honest, it is much shorter than the North American broadcast, but it has a strong sense of the times. The handwritten caption “First satellite broadcast from Budokan!” is also very strong, and when the broadcast starts, it is already in the middle of the third song “Here Comes The Feeling”. Even the program host can't help but blurt out, ``Here we are,'' and ``It's starting...'' which is perfect for a live broadcast. Moreover, not only was the beginning not made in time, but it wasn't even aired until the end (bitter smile). They returned to the studio for the intro of "Wildest Dreams," and the presenter frankly commented, "That's all, but I'm glad I got to hear some really good parts," and "It brings tears to my eyes." After that, the opening number "Time Again" is played almost in full, so it recovers at once, but if this song had not been cut in the product version, the recording master may not have remained until the present day. [DISC 2: Further bonus footage (2 types)] After such a live broadcast, a bonus pro shot with the scent of the 80's is also included. The first is the clip "Did It All For Love" from "PHENOMENA II: DREAM RUNNER" in which John Wetton participated. It's a great song that shows off Wetton's deep voice, but the scenery is even more amazing. First and foremost is the late Mel Galley. Mel's career as a guitarist was in jeopardy due to an arm injury, but it's heartwarming to see him return safely. The arm support device that caused WHITESNAKE's dismissal is also visible, but it is not noticeable at all. David Coverdale is said to have called it ``disgraceful''... Furthermore, his guitar partner is Scott Gorham, and the late Ray Gillan is in the console room. Although he didn't participate in this song, he does show his face in the clip. And the last one is the ASIA special feature of Japan's super famous program "Beth*Hit USA". The Japanese-translated subtitled clips for "Don't Cry" and "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes" are delicious, but even more valuable are the program's original interviews. The performance in Japan had already been announced, but Wetton is still enrolled at this point. The four original members are talking about "ALPHA". Although the content may be unique, it would be applicable in any country...but Carl Palmer's work is very close to Japan. While looking back on his memories of EL&P's first visit to Japan, he made a mysterious comment: ``I want to go to Japan even on vacation.I also want to go to the famous Nihon University.'' “ASIA IN ASIA” where Howe and Greg stood side by side and sang Wetton’s song. In rock, the separation, gathering, and variety of matching can be entertainment in itself, and this was the ultimate in that. This work is a professional shot collection that records the miracles of the prog rock world that even now will confuse your brain. The crowning work of this project is the 3-disc press set "DEFINITIVE ASIA IN ASIA (Virtuoso 370/371/372)", but this work has a subtext that can be enjoyed even more deeply. A collection of multi-camera professional shots of “ASIA IN ASIA” with Greg Lake at the front. Rather than the familiar official works, it features the US broadcast version, which is longer than the product version, and the Japanese broadcast version, which is full of the times. There are also plenty of related videos, such as a press conference in front of a gold folding screen, a special ASIA feature on the famous program that was set just before coming to Japan, and a clip of ``PHENOMENA II'' in which Wetton, who left the group, participated. This is a 2-disc pro shot collection where you can deeply enjoy the miraculous project in which Howe and Greg stood side by side and sang Wetton's songs.
