ARW (Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman) is scheduled to visit Japan in April 2017. This superb live album, perfect for preparation, is now available on 2CD. As avid YES enthusiasts/collectors may already know, ARW is the most anticipated project in the progressive rock scene in 2016/2017. As the name suggests, it is a collaboration between originator Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin, who are known as talented members of YES, and the content has been highly praised as "better than the name" and "better than expected." It is ARW that is even whispered as "the true YES," but no official works have been released yet, and only music enthusiasts know its true value. It is inevitable that their upcoming performance in Japan will spread the word at once, but some people may be hesitant to go to the concert. Therefore, we have decided to upgrade and press the best and best live album at the moment. Enjoy the fresh and beautiful "new YES music" as rumored, and get excited for their visit to Japan! The real identity of this work is the audience album of the "Buffalo performance on November 2, 2016". ARW started their activities in October 2016. They have just finished a two-month North American tour. Here is a look at the schedule from the start of the tour to their arrival in Japan. ・October 4-December 3, 2016: North America (36 performances) {About 3 months later} ←★Now★ ・March 7, 2017: Tel Aviv performance ・March 12-25, 2017: UK (10 performances) ・March 27+28, 2017: Belgium + Netherlands (2 performances) {About 3 weeks later} ・April 17-24, 2017: Japan (6 performances) These are all the dates that have been announced so far. The North American leg continued at a high pace of "more than once every two days" for two whole months, and considering his age, it is clear how cool (an obsolete) the mood is. Now that the North American leg is over, enthusiasts all over the world are summarizing the recordings. The Buffalo performance included in this work is the masterpiece that took the throne of "North America's best (= the best currently existing)". Because of its sound, it was a hot topic from the time of its release. We also introduced it as "BUFFALO 2016" from the Amity label. This work is a definitive edition that has been polished by remastering the famous recording. Of course, we have not done any unrefined imitations such as forcing the sound pressure up to create a false sense of power. While making the most of the awesomeness of the original recording, which is designated as the king by enthusiasts, it has been re-arranged into an "ideal sound". To be specific, although the original sound is extremely clear, from the "ideal" point of view, the mid-range is slightly protruding and the edges of each instrument are sweet. Therefore, in this work, the balance from high to low tones was adjusted, and the outline of each instrument was clearly highlighted. In addition, the small noises scattered throughout (which were at a level where you could not hear them by listening to them with headphones) were also carefully treated one by one. The "ultimate" and "ideal" form was realized. The sound polished by such precise mastering is the best of the best. Each sound is extremely thick and glossy, and the details are so detailed that you can even feel the touch. Although there is no sense of distance at all, it also has the beauty of "ringing" that brings out the flavor of YES music. The deep bass feels like the floor under your feet is shaking, and the high notes shine like they are pouring down. This is no longer "just like a sound board" but "just like an official record". There is a hot breath of the audience between songs, so it is definitely an audience recording, but it is a superb product that goes beyond "line or customer record" and "official or unofficial" and approaches the limits of concert recording. This post has gotten long just talking about the amazing sound, but of course, the key to this album is the live performance depicted by that sound. As I have mentioned many times before, if you are new to ARW, please pay attention to the fresh arrangements. The classic YES masterpieces are revived by Rabin's sharp guitar, and the 90125 YES repertoire is grand and colorful thanks to Rick. In addition, the supporting rhythm section is also a point, with Lou Molino III, who is said to be "as free as Bill Bruford and as powerful as Cozy Powell," and Lee Pomeroy's skill reminiscent of Chris Squire and yet full of unique dynamism. And John's singing voice, which seems to accept all of these new flavors and declare powerfully, "This is YES"... YES music is a group of masterpieces that you have listened to for many years, but it is new, yet it feels natural, and it is so active that it makes you dizzy. There is no better album to experience that world of sound than this one. There may be some official release in the future, but at the moment there is nothing that surpasses this work. This is the ultimate work that further raises the apex recording. This is the "top" of the live album that is recommended not only to enthusiasts who continue to walk with the start of ARW, but also to those who ask "What kind of sound does ARW have?" and "What is the difference between ARW and YES?"
