Unfortunately, Jon Christensen has passed away, but the latest live performance by the regular group of Norwegian treasure Arild Andersen, one of the "Nordic Four" who has been active as the face of the ECM label from the dawn of the label to the present day along with Jan Garbarek and Terje Rypdal, is now available for the first time in a complete version with the highest quality sound recording! ! Unfortunately, Jon Christensen has passed away, but the remaining three are still alive and continue to be as stimulating as ever. One of them, bassist/composer Arild Andersen, is still in an aggressive attitude without any sense of defense, and from the European tour that began with the announcement of the long-awaited new album (Garbarek has also started the tour ~ the latest live performance is also in stock!), the latest live performance by the same members as the studio version on March 24, 2022 in Sieke, Germany, has already arrived in a two-disc set that has been completely recorded over nearly two hours until the encore on the best high-quality stereo sound board that has been carefully mastered by the label's own unique method! ! The "Nordic Big 4" had a huge influence on the early days of European jazz and was the catalyst for the full-scale operation of ECM. Each member was extremely talented, and had a very wide perspective, not just a narrow field of activity. In short, they were a super group that could do anything (and all of it was of a high standard). Anyone who listens to the various works they left behind from the late 1960s, when they first emerged, to the present day will be convinced. Andersen is not only highly skilled, but also perfect and top-notch in everything he does, from orthodox 4-beat to free/avant-garde, jazz rock, King Crimson-worthy progressive rock, and even contemporary music. This performance, like Andersen's, is not a look back on the past, but rather a beautiful and powerful performance of consistently fresh and creative performances with Marius Nesset, Helge Lien, and Haakon Meuset-Johansen, all of whom are outstandingly talented artists who are currently at the top of Norwegian jazz! From freelance avant-garde numbers to beautiful ECM-esque ballads, Andersen's deep musicality is generously displayed, and he also plays hard, boppish numbers in the style of Thelonious Monk one after another, and long numbers that are worth listening to, featuring the outstanding solo improvisations of each member. This is a culmination of Andersen's career, but the performance doesn't feel old at all, which is nothing short of amazing! Led by Andersen's outstanding bass playing, all the members work together as one while making full use of their advanced techniques to create new music that builds an exquisite ensemble!
