"MARK BOALS YEARS" Volume 1 & 2 is a chronological collection of 12 underground live performances during the time of Mark Boals, who served as lead vocalist of "YNGWIE J. MALMSTEEN'S RISING FORCE" for over a year from the summer of 1985 to September 1986 as a replacement for Jeff Scott Soto, who left the band. This rare live collection of Mark's performances in the mid-1980s is a must-have for fans, as he was a major driving force behind the production of the masterpiece "Trilogy", and Yngwie himself has generously praised him as the best vocalist of all time. "Volume 2" includes support for AC/DC's North American tour from September to November, followed by 10 performances from Vancouver on December 28th to Honolulu on January 12th, supporting Dio's "Sacred Tour". Disc 1 contains high-quality recordings of the Seattle performance on December 31st, 1985. This was the third performance as an opening act for Dio, and perhaps because it was New Year's Eve, the stage was longer than usual at 53 minutes (and the sound quality was also excellent). Disc 2 contains the Las Vegas performance on January 10th. This is a 46-minute recording. In the tour with AC/DC up until the previous month, after the second song On The Run Again, a medley was played to Don't Let It End with a slow bridge part of about 1 minute by keyboard and guitar, but in these two performances, Icarus' Dream Suite Op. 4 was played at this position with Mark's song introduction. The four performances from Disc 3 to 6 are recorded from the promotion tour held in North America in September 1986, nine months later, immediately after the release of "Trilogy". It can be said that this was the live performance just before Mark Boals left the band, and Mark's stage singing the full set of the "Trilogy" tour is very valuable. By the way, from this tour, the bass was replaced from Marcel Jacob to Wally Boss. In particular, the Walbridge and Dallas performances on September 7th and 14th are full sets of 72 minutes each, and although the sound quality is of average high quality, it is very satisfying to listen to. Fury, Queen In Love, Fire from the new album, and You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget from the early I Am A Viking are also included, making it a great listen. Trilogy Suite Op. 5 also appears in the guitar solo. The September 19th Kalamazoo performance recorded on Disc 5 is only the first half of the 34-minute recording, and the sound quality is not so good, but the East Troy performance take on Disc 6 is only up to Liar, which is also incomplete at 54 minutes, but the sound quality is particularly good overall, and you can enjoy Yngwie's performance in the last period of Mark's tenure. In front of Fury, you can hear the MC saying, "From the new album "Trilogy" released last week." As with "Volume 1," the sound quality varies, but all of them are definitely above average, so it is a set that fans of any level can enjoy. Shortly after this, Mark was fired from the band and Jeff Scott Soto returned. Jeff captivated the fans with his amazing performance on the 1986 Japan tour, but when you listen to this Mark Boals "Trilogy" tour, you will surely feel that you wish you could have heard Mark perform in Japan in 1986. It is a great album that all fans can enjoy, even though it is a bit of a niche album. This is definitely the definitive version of "YNGWIE J.
