The second day of the 2024 Japan tour, which was also the final stop of the 55th anniversary debut "THE CLASSIC TALES OF YES Tour", was recorded in full on September 18th at the Hitomi Memorial Hall in Tokyo with a multi-stereo IEM matrix, and the DVD edition also features high-quality audience shots of the live performance on that day. First, the stereo IEM sources that each member used on stage, each with a different mix balance, were mixed in an exquisite balance to create a multi-IEM matrix, and then the digital audience source was stereo-mixed with an exquisite combination to faithfully reproduce the day's scene with a hybrid sound that conveys the atmosphere of the venue to the fullest. And the digital camera footage of the opening and "Machine Messiah" is audio only, but it is a stable and good shot from the front of the stage throughout, and the audio part is synchronized with the CD's multi-IEM matrix source, and the quality of the sound, including the audio, is a world apart from fragmentary footage on YouTube and other sites. This was their first visit to Japan in two years, and the live performance was the middle day of three consecutive performances at the same hall. As with the first day on the 16th, they reproduced "Tales of Topographical Oceans" as a new suite of about 20 minutes, and although it was in medley format, the arrangement was well-crafted and there was no sense of cutting and pasting, so much so that I would like to see it re-recorded as a renewed version. The other selected songs were also fresh, and the only four standard numbers they played on their two recent visits to Japan were "I've Seen All Good People," "Siberian Khatru," "Roundabout," and "Starship Trooper," and the rest were songs that were played here in Japan for the first time in a long time. In addition, their performance skills have definitely scaled up from two years ago, and Steve Howe's lively playing in particular is more relaxed than on the first day, even with the exact same set list, making this a Japan-only memorial item.
