The masterpiece official live album "WHO'S LAST" is now out of print. Its "single disc version" has been decided to be released. "WHO'S LAST" is a live album produced to be THE WHO's final work, and is a traditional official work that has been conveying the "farewell tour" for a long time. The original release was in 1984, when the band was disbanded, and it appeared as a two-disc analog masterpiece that surpassed "LIVE AT LEEDS", and at the time it was also released as a two-disc CD. Because of this history, the image of a "two-disc set" is strong, but in fact, there was also a "single CD" in the long history of sound sources. That was the UK CD "MCLD 19005" released in 1991. This work is a meticulous reprint of that mint quality version. In this case, it is natural to think, "What is the difference from the original two-disc set?" and "What was cut?", but the answer is "nothing". In fact, the running time of the original 2CD version of "WHO'S LAST" is "75:54". It was originally the size of one CD. Perhaps they wanted to avoid long recording times in 1984, the early days of CDs, or perhaps they wanted to maintain the price of a 2-CD set for CDs... The reason is unclear now, but the latest CD version released in 2006 (Japanese paper jacket CD) is also a 2-CD set. It is also a work that has followed a mysterious history of sound sources. So, the content of this work is faithful to the original. The running time is a few seconds shorter, but that is probably due to the silent part related to the disc division. The fades on the sides of the analog 2-CD set (= 4 sides) are left unconnected and are stored as they are on one disc. We could end the explanation here, but since we're here, let's also touch on the contents of "WHO'S LAST". It is known as an edited live album recorded at multiple performances, but when and where were they? Speaking of the “farewell tour,” the other classic “LIVE FROM TORONTO” is also well-known, so let’s check the schedule for that as well. {"IT'S HARD" released on September 4th}・September 10th + 11th (2 performances: UK)・September 22nd - October 9th (13 performances) *October 10th: East Rutherford performance ←★WHO'S LAST★・October 12th - 17th (4 performances) *October 20th: Seattle performance ←★WHO'S LAST★・October 21st - 25th (3 performances) *October 27th: San Diego performance ←★WHO'S LAST★・October 29th + 31st (2 performances) - about 1 month later-・November 27th - December 13th (12 performances) *December 14th: Cleveland performance ←★WHO'S LAST★ *December 16th + 17th: Toronto performances ←※LIVE FROM TORONTO This was the 1982 "farewell tour." Divided into two parts with about a month off in between, "WHO'S LAST" is compiled from four shows. Of course, it is not recorded evenly from each show. Let's check which show was the main one and the songs recorded for each performance. December 14th: Cleveland performance (12 songs) My Generation / I Can't Explain / Baba O'Riley / Boris The Spider / Who Are You / Pinball Wizard / See Me, Feel Me / Love, Reign o'er Me / Long Live Rock / Won't Get Fooled Again / Doctor Jimmy (★) / Twist And Shout Others (4 songs) October 10th: East Rutherford performance: Behind Blue Eyes (★) October 20th: Seattle performance: Magic Bus (★) / Summertime Blues (★) October 27th: San Diego performance: Substitute (★) *Note: The "★" mark indicates a song that could not be heard on "LIVE FROM TORONTO". ...And so it goes. The main performance is clearly the "Cleveland performance on December 14th, 1982". The other three performances were complementary, with one or two songs each. The Cleveland performance was just before "LIVE FROM TORONTO" and the set was very similar. To add variety to the performance, they must have collected takes from various places on the tour. All the songs from the other three performances were repertoires that were not included in "LIVE FROM TORONTO". Perhaps because it was a work from the early days of CDs, the official work "WHO'S LAST" has had a strange history of sound sources. This is a live album that reprints that rare "single CD". There is nothing particularly noteworthy musically, and it is a maniac album for collectors, but it is certainly a masterpiece of music that gets you excited when you listen to it. The traditional official live album has been released. The original CD was a two-disc set, but this work was meticulously reprinted from the out-of-print British "single CD" CD "MCLD 19005". Although there is no musical difference, it is a valuable collection. Taken from the UK CD (MCA Records, MCLD 19005)(75:46) 1. My Generation 2. I Can't Explain 3. Substitute 4. Behind Blue Eyes 5.
