The legendary singer David Coverdale. The best ever official video showing his beautiful voice is here. This is the latest release of the Japanese laser disc reprint series, "STARKERS IN TOKYO". This live performance was an acoustic live performance held at the record company's studio when Coverdale came to Japan to promote "RESTLESS HEART". It was a special one-night performance by Coverdale and his partner at the time, Adrian Vandenberg, in front of about 50 fans and related people. The content was exactly "the magic of the human voice". With only Adrian's acoustic guitar as the backing, Coverdale's gentle singing voice was so wonderful that it was as if the meaning of the two letters "beautiful voice" was turned into sound. Even in his usual rock style, he is said to "sounds of breathing are also part of the song", but in a space with only extremely simple sounds, the subtleties are exposed, and even the slight fluctuations of the vibrato and the nuances of breathing cause ripples in the heart. Even the word "Thank you" that is mixed into the song is part of the song. At that time, the roughness of his voice began to be felt both on stage and in the album, and even ballads often cracked due to strain. However, he did not get angry with a single acoustic guitar, and only the melody and emotion gently and quietly seeped out... This pattern was titled "STARKERS IN TOKYO" and was officially released on CD/LD/VHS. It is still loved today, with people saying things like "Since 1984," "The best masterpiece of the 90s," "The last beautiful voice," and so on. However, these official works are now out of print. In particular, the video version is difficult to see now that laser disc/video media itself has become obsolete. Only one song was included in the 25th anniversary version of "SLIDE IT IN" and two songs were included in the 20th anniversary version of "SLIP OF THE TONGUE," and there is no sign of it being officially released on DVD. However, this video version is far better than the CD. Not only is it "picture-attached," but the order of the songs, which was changed on the CD, is almost exactly as it was on the spot. The improvised "Only My Soul" and the "Burning Heart" and "Fool For Your Loving," which were sung briefly in response to requests, were skipped, but they were also summarized in the ending, so you could experience "everything from that day." Such is the "STARKERS IN TOKYO" video. The best version that exists is the Japanese laser disc. This time, we unearthed an unused mint quality version and entrusted it to an overseas manufacturer specializing in analog video. It was digitized using professional equipment and environment. Laser discs have an overwhelming amount of information compared to VHS and other tape media, and there is no unevenness in playback, but what is truly wonderful is their preservation ability. Even if the official tries to reprint it from the original master, there are cases where it has deteriorated over time, and in the end, it is not uncommon for the Japanese laser disc to be superior. In fact, WHITESNAKE's "SUPER ROCK '84" was officially released on DVD with a master excavated from the record company's warehouse after being reprinted in this series, but the quality was no different from the official master when Gene was supposed to be young. I don't know if the official side has fully digitized "STARKERS IN TOKYO", but even if it is officially released on DVD in the future, it is unlikely to surpass this work. In addition, as a bonus, this work includes "Too Many Tears" and "The Deeper The Love" from the TV program "VH1 UNPLUGGED", as well as three additional PVs from the "RESTLESS HEART" era. "VH1 UNPLUGGED" is particularly wonderful. Like the main story, it is an acoustic performance with only Adrian and the two of them, but it was recorded in London in October 1997 after the start of "THE LAST HURRAH TOUR 1997". It is exactly the sequel to the main story. Literally, a beautiful voice that "forgets to breathe". This is the highest quality version of this historic official video, where you can enjoy the beautiful voice of this legendary singer to the fullest. The 2016 Japan tour, which Coverdale himself said "might be the last," is just around the corner. This is a superb product that you should definitely enjoy on such a long autumn night.
