"This might be the last Japan"... WHITESNAKE came to Japan with David Coverdale's own ominous words. I don't want to believe it because he has a criminal record, but if it is true, where will the last live in Japan be? And what kind of show was played there? A masterpiece live album that digs out the truth is now available on 4 CDs. The stage for the "possibly last Japan performance" was "Osaka International Convention Center (Grand Cube Osaka) on October 13, 2016". This work is a 4-disc audience set that depicts the live with two types of superb sound. We have already introduced "LOUD PARK 2016" from this tour, so let's check the schedule again.・October 9: Saitama Super Arena "LOUD PARK 2016" ・October 10: Shizuoka City Cultural Hall ・October 13: Osaka International Convention Center 【This work】 In this way, this Japan tour was the shortest in the history of White Snake, with three performances ("SLIP OF THE TONGUE TOUR 1990" was also three performances). The final performance in Osaka was also the final performance of the world tour "THE GREATEST HITS TOUR 2016" (of course, there is a possibility that a new date will be added next year, but all the dates announced at this time have been completed). This work, which contains such a monumental show, is a luxurious four-disc set with two superb sound sources. Both were recorded by masters of live recording, and the sound is superb and difficult to choose between. To be honest, I was planning to commercialize only the best recordings from this tour, but the two recordings included in this work were so wonderful that it was difficult to decide which was better, even though they were outstanding among the many recordings. Even if we tried to decide on one with a "Eiya!", we were still unsure, and even when the entire staff discussed it, we couldn't come to a conclusion. Therefore, considering the weight of "maybe the last", we concluded that since there are superb records, we should leave both of them forever. Thus, the two masters were stored. Of course, the same show was recorded, but the recorders, equipment, and positions are different, so the personalities are different. Now, let's introduce each recording individually. [Disc 1 & 2: RECORDER 1] First of all, a work by a famous recordist. Although this recorder is Japanese, he has also visited overseas performances of various genres and has been recording all over the world. Our shop has offered us many masterpieces, but this time he happened to return to Japan and recorded the final performance of WHITESNAKE. The sound quality is a tremendous clear sound that is "like a sound board". Of course, the enthusiasm of the hot Osaka is also contained, and it is definitely an audience recording, but the sharp edge of the musical tone, the shining "ring", and the close direct feeling are great sounds comparable to line recordings. What is most wonderful is the metallic brilliance. The members are the same as last year's "THE PURPLE TOUR", but this time "THE GREATEST HITS TOUR" focuses on the three albums of the Geffen era "SLIDE IT IN", "SERPENS ALBUS", and "SLIP OF THE TONGUE". Perhaps because of this, the sound man this time has a very metallic sound, and this work accurately depicts its charm. The charm of the sound explodes from the beginning. "Bad Boys", which runs while raising a shining edge, is also the best, and in "SLIDE IT IN", the solo that is different from the original is extremely colorful. WHITESNAKE has made a history with various guitar heroes, but the current Reb Beach & Joel Hoekstra are a highly regarded combination with the highest reputation in terms of technique and sense. Each member is as flashy as Steve Vai, but not eccentric, and while they understand the songs as well as Adrian Vandenberg, they are freer than Doug Aldrich, who was too conscious of John Sykes. The two of them have a great chemistry, and they exude the magic of "1 + 1 > 2" while inserting their own obbligatos and solos. The vivid personalities of these two are clearly more suited to the sparkling "Geffen era WHITESNAKE" than the DEEP PURPLE numbers, and they are fully demonstrating their shining guitar work that far surpasses last year. This "RECORDER 1" is a masterpiece recording that brings out the best of that brilliance. [Discs 3 and 4: RECORDER 2] I feel like I've used up all the praise just on discs 1 and 2 (bitter smile), but the following discs 3 and 4, "RECORDER 2," are also fierce masterpieces. It is the familiar "Western Japan's Strongest Taper" who has created a sound that is not even half a step behind the world-famous masters. This time, they also traveled to the Kanto region and showed off their unrivaled recording skills at "LOUD PARK 16," but they returned to their hometown with the White Snake and made a great recording that showed their true value on their home ground. The sound is different from the shining "RECORDER 1," and is full of a total sense of scale. Both recorders seem to have recorded in the front of the first floor seats, and the clarity is 50/50. However, while "RECORDER 1" was somewhat specialized in guitars, "RECORDER 2" is a powerful live album with a good balance of even the deep bass rhythm section. Although they are both "metallic," "RECORDER 1" has a sharp edge, while "RECORDER 2" is a recording that captures the driving force of the entire band. Even now that I'm listening to it again to write my manuscript, I still can't decide which is the best... The powerful sound of "RECORDER 2" (not to mention the two guitarists) makes Tommy Aldridge's drumming resonate in your stomach, and Coverdale's singing voice burns your heart. Tommy's drumming, which is already 66 years old but embodies the word "powerful" in a powerful sound, is scary, but Coverdale's singing voice is also amazing. Unlike Tommy, his singing voice honestly expresses the weight of his career, but the spirit that resides there is different from "usual". It has already been talked about in various places as "his voice is stronger than last year" and "he has great power", and the spirit supports such a reputation. Of course, the ballads remind you of his former beautiful voice, but more than that, it is a voice of the soul that exposes everything and squeezes out the way of life rather than the throat. Is it the fulfillment of the last day of the world tour, or the determination of "the last Japan"? It is a live album that really conveys the emotion of the singing voice shaking the scene. Anyway, WHITESNAKE left Japan, leaving this album behind. Coverdale has disbanded the band many times, and in 1997 he went on a retirement tour. He has come back each time, and recently said that "THE PURPLE ALBUM" was the last one, but that "it was a mistake." That's why I want to believe that his statement that "this might be my last time in Japan" is a lie. But the fierce singing voice in this work is too real... With this work, the white snake has finished its world tour and gone into hibernation. Believing and hoping that it will wake up again.
