Another new (and outstanding) excavated sound source has been released from the "Radio Broadcast Series", a title that is very popular with fans, which has been realistically cut out with the best masters and captures the atmosphere of the era! This time, the "Post Purple Family Special" on a famous music program that aired on May 22, 1977 is packaged as a whole. With excellent sound and valuable content, this sound source will allow listeners to enjoy the atmosphere and mood of the late '70s! In the '70s, music programs on the radio were a valuable source of information for fans. Unlike today, when overseas news and valuable sound sources can be easily obtained, fans at that time listened to the information and sounds conveyed by music programs with their ears. Another major feature of these music programs was that they did not simply play songs and news, but also included detailed commentary by critics and experts who were familiar with the activities and backgrounds of musicians. Listeners were unknowingly cultivated their views and attitudes toward Western rock. The sincere and passionate stance seen in Japanese Western rock fans is probably largely due to these "opinion leaders." "ROCK ON" and "ROCK SUMMER SESSION" were released one after another, surprising fans (both veterans from the time and the younger generation who followed them), allowing them to experience the mood of the '70s in a real way. This work, which will be introduced this time, is a recording of the "Post Purple Family Special" broadcast on May 22, 1977 on a popular music program at the time, from the original air check master provided by a collector! After the dissolution of DEEP PURPLE, the activities of former PURPLE members who walked their own paths as RAINBOW, IAN GILLAN BAND, and PAICE ASHTON LORD are surveyed from a perspective and observation that can only be seen in real time, making it a first-class historical document of hard rock! The first song to come out when the disc is played is RAINBOW's "Starstruck," followed by an MC and talk by the famous DJ. The first comment here is interesting: "A long time ago, someone who wrote for my magazine wrote about Chicago, saying, 'Chicago is great! They've come all the way here and they're manly and wonderful' (laughs), but I feel like that "they've come all the way here and they're manly and wonderful" applies to Rainbow these days," and you can hear a fun introduction right from the beginning. (After that, it is mentioned that "ON STAGE" is scheduled to be released here). Next, PAICE ASHTON LORD (PAL), who will be featured, is introduced as "John seemed to have a hard time doing it as PURPLE got later in the season," but "he's playing freely here." As a result, PAL did not last long, but at this point, it seems that there were high expectations for them as "John's long-awaited solo group." The third to appear is Ian Gillan. You can enjoy "Over The Hill" and "Angel Manchenio" from the new album "CLEAR AIR TURBULENCE" that was just released at the time. What is noteworthy here is that the interview with Gillan was realized by international phone call. The fans at the time must have been surprised to get the latest information and comments directly from the musician himself (of course, there is an interpreter and commentary, so you can listen with peace of mind). You can still find interesting information, such as the fact that a satisfactory new work was made, his departure from the second generation of PURPLE and his return to the IAN GILLAN BAND. In addition, you can't miss the answer to the question "What do you think of Richie and John?". He has a positive view of Richie, saying that "he had a good band," but he has a frank (and severe) view of John, saying that "he hasn't used up his talent." Gillan's comments on both of them will be very noteworthy. Another highlight of the program is the focus on Roger Glover as a "producer." The latest works he produced include "Here Come The Tears" and "Dissident Aggressor" from JUDAS PRIEST's "SIN AFTER SIN". The DJ's comments on the former members mentioned above, such as "they have similar musical tastes" and "I hope they don't break up and continue to work in this direction", are important points. Considering John's later joining of WHITESNAKE, Roger's joining of RAINBOW, and the reunion of DEEP PURPLE, these comments are very suggestive. The show closes with "Hole In The Sky" from Coverdale's first solo album "WHITESNAKE" (the last part of this recording includes the news that was included in the master. You can relive the social situation and events of the time in real life). Although it is different from special live takes, the musical attitude and perspective reflected in the DJ's comments are worth listening to even for current fans. Furthermore, the mood that directly conveys the atmosphere of the times, like that of "ROCK ON," will impress veteran fans and give young fans a fresh and interesting re-experience.
