The reader's postcard at the beginning reads, "Hello, Mr. XX. I saw your face in an FM magazine. When I listened to you on the radio, I wondered what you looked like, maybe you had a twisted face, but you had such a childish face that I made a request to make fun of you. I'll change the subject suddenly, but to be honest, I don't like Zeppelin. I wanted to say this, so I made a request. Well, goodbye. My request is "Highway Star" in the studio." This postcard clearly shows the intellectual level of the Deep Purple people, but it also includes a postcard of Deep Purple (from the DJ intro), which was broadcast on the popular radio program "Young Jockey" from March 27 to April 3, 1977, entitled "Crazy Program: Seven Days of Hard Rock", a special program that lasted a week, and was recorded in full on four discs, one hour each for the first four days, making it a total of four hours. This is a luxurious project title that could only be a gift item. Each disc includes a time signal in the intro and outro, making it a perfect work (radio news from that time was also included on the second and fourth days). The project is based on the familiar idea of deciding the top 100 bands through a popular vote by listeners, but the bands and rankings are not introduced in order from lowest to highest, as is often the case, but are introduced randomly. Therefore, if we summarize the bands that appeared on the first four days of the program, although there are several bands that are ranked the same number of times in the latter half, at this stage, only about two-thirds of the total have appeared, resulting in a table with gaps, as shown below. However, our customers can also predict the results of parts 5 to 7 together with the listeners of 1977, saying things like, "Since it's March 1977, I'm sure these bands will be ranked in the future," and it's a fun program that is also fun to enjoy. Bands that reflect the popularity or social conditions of the time appear one after another with interesting DJ comments, and just listening to it will surely make you and your room travel back in time to the spring of 1977. The sound quality is perfect because it is recorded by a maniac maniac and the tapes were carefully stored. It is interesting that it includes the Runaways ("Cherry Bomb"), Sweet ("Teenage Rhapsody"), Angel, who should be called the flower of the era, among the big name bands that are still very popular today, as well as the more minor bands Paris (ranked 9th!), Straps, Hard Stuff, Captain Beyond, Fogut, Cactus, Humble Pie, ZZ Top, etc. And above all, the comments of the popular DJ who is in top form and the postcards from listeners that are sandwiched between songs are interesting, and in fact, they are more enjoyable than the songs themselves. There are so many interesting things to listen to that it's hard to pick out the highlights, but in Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, a DJ who is well-known as a Zep expert describes the Theremin as "a strange machine that makes a strange sound like it was in a movie," which gives a sense of the era. There is also a casual mention of "Judas Priest is very energetic, this group is very pretentious and interesting," but there are also many fun anecdotes throughout the album, such as an interesting episode from the reception that the DJ experienced when Aerosmith first came to Japan. Also, the DJ's unique view that "hard rock groups can be broadly divided into Zeppelin and Aerosmith-type groups that focus on riffs, and groups that focus on melodies, such as Purple, which is also known as the "Tokoroten Sound" group," is interesting. A postcard comment from a Uriah Heep fan saying "I don't know if they're popular or not, if they're a lame or great band, but I love Uriah Heep" and "I pray that they break up soon and leave only memories behind" is quite interesting. (Actually, they're still going!) Furthermore, a request for Rush said, "Why isn't such a great group popular in Japan? I listen to a lot of stuff, but Rush is the best. I think Geddy's ripped vocals are the definitive rock album." It shows that even now, Rush fans are underrated in Japan (= they feel somehow out of place = there's no one to talk to) and their suffering has been going on for 36 years. A masterpiece is a postcard from a 14-year-old girl who bought the new Scorpions album, which reads, "Why did the Scorpions use that for the cover of their new album? I was really looking forward to it! After all, how could a shy 14-year-old girl hold that 30cm LP and ask the old man at the record store for it? Because the title is "Virgin Killer". It's good that it hasn't been translated into Japanese yet. But still, how well are they hiding that crack in the glass? Even if you look closely, you can't see the important part. If it were me, I'd show you everything if you showed me that much." It's a big deal for a shy 14-year-old girl to say that (DJ comment lol), but it's very funny. A total of 4 hours of epic planning. It's a recommended title that is sure to be enjoyed by anyone, not just hard rock fans. Broadcast Date : 27th-30th March 1977 Disc 1: Day 1 Broadcast Date : 27th March 1977 1. Intro 2.
