The best live in Japan from the heyday is here. This work contains the performance of "March 16, 1976: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall (Sapporo)". The original master recorded in the front row was obtained directly from the recorder himself. It is an audience album that was directly converted to CD. At that time, SANTANA's scale grew every time they came to Japan, from their first two performances (1971) to 12 performances (1973) to 16 performances (1974). In their fourth visit, "1976", they finally achieved a large-scale tour that reached the peak of their career. First of all, let's take a look at their immense popularity from the schedule.・February 20th + 21st: Tokyo (2 performances)・February 22nd - March 2nd: Osaka + Kyoto + Kagawa + Okayama (7 performances)・March 3rd - 6th: Kyushu (3 performances)・March 8th + 9th: Hiroshima + Aichi (2 performances)・March 10th - 13th: Kanagawa + Tokyo + Niigata (4 performances)・March 15th: Noboribetsu Muroran Health Gymnasium・March 16th: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall [This work]・March 17th: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall The schedule was so huge that it was compressed dramatically, but in this way, the archipelago was invaded with a total of 21 performances from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Their Japanese performances average 7.06 performances per tour, which is about three times the usual number of performances. SANTANA will be holding their 16th Japan tour in April 2017, but there was no other tour on a larger scale than this, and it was a huge heyday that was the biggest record by far. The Sapporo performance "March 16th" where this work was recorded was one of the latter days. It is the middle day of the three Hokkaido performances. The greatest taste of this work is the fiercely clear sound quality. Its beauty is not "wonderful for the 70s" but "can the 70s' customer records be made to this extent!?" It should be said that it is a front row recording, but the fiercely close musical tones are extremely thick and detailed, like a sound board. Moreover, it is not just the front row, but right in front of the center of the stage. To be honest, such a position is a double-edged sword, and if you make a mistake, the reverberation of the venue will go around and it will be bowabowa. However, this work captures only the direct feeling beautifully, there is almost no reverberation like reverberation, and even the left and right stereo feeling is balanced. You can enjoy plenty of sound that miraculously utilizes only the taste of the "center front row". Anyway, the beauty of this hot and melting guitar tone ... I can't describe it. The vibrato and choking are super clear even to the extent of the vibration, and the "sound" is full of depth and richness. It is a masterpiece of live performance recording that can no longer be described in the dimension of "line or customer recording". There is a reason why such a recording was realized. The recorder who made this work is the same person who made PINK FLOYD's "SAPPORO 1972: DIRECT REEL MASTER" and CHICAGO's "SAPPORO 1973". These two works are already becoming legendary, but this work is of the highest quality that will further enhance its fame. In fact, this recording itself has been available before, but this is the first time that the genuine master sound has been released. It is the best, longest and best version that includes the complete recording of "Evil Ways", which was not included in the previous group. The popular live performance depicted in that sound is also wonderful. The album is centered around four songs from the masterpiece "ABRAXAS" and three from "AMIGOS," with "Give And Take," "Toussaint L'Overture," and "Evil Ways" interwoven into it. At this point, "AMIGOS" was just about to be released, but "Melancholy Europe" was already the core of the show. The warm welcome of the audience who witnessed it is also clearly recorded. The 1976 tour, which ravaged Japan at the height of its popularity, with the potential of the historic masterpiece "AMIGOS" intact. This is a masterpiece live album that is the apex record. The master sound that only the recorder himself knew until now. The ultimate complete form, including "Evil Ways," which will be released for the first time in the world.
