This is a recording of a live show broadcast on the radio at King Biscuit Flower Hour in 1978, recorded by Joe Maloney, a famous taper at the time. Many of the airchecks from those days are too rough to listen to with modern ears, but Joe Maloney's recordings are as good as any other, and even though they are airchecks, they have a thick sound and overwhelming clarity like a DAT recording, which will delight fans. Although the sound source is ``Handsome Girls,'' the sound quality is still amazing. (Since this is the broadcast version, ``Fxxkin' Reality'' at 3:49 has been cut from ``Just My Imagination.'') The title remains the same because it was broadcast as a Memphis performance, but as you know, the actual Memphis performance is only ``Shattered'' and ``Hound Dog,'' and the rest are excerpts from the Lexington performance on the 29th, the Detroit performance on July 4th, and the Houston performance on July 19th, and the song order has been edited for broadcast. The 30 songs included in this album, including "Handsome Girls," are a must-have for fans, but in this age of oversaturation, it might be fun to go back to the basics and enjoy the 1978 broadcast version from the Maloney Collection in the best possible sound quality. The radio outro, which lets you enjoy the atmosphere of the time, is also included.
