From the 1981 Japan tour, the Osaka performance on August 21st (2nd day) is completely recorded from the original master that appears for the first time! After the departure of Cozy Powell and Graham Bonnet, RAINBOW shifted to an American direction by welcoming Joe Lynn Turner and Bobby Rondinelli. Their first release, ``DIFFICULT TO CURE,'' became a masterpiece that featured youthful and catchy elements as well as Richie's guitar. At the last performance in Japan of the 1981 "DIFFICULT TO CURE" tour, not only traditional fans but also a new fan base were cultivated, and a total of 8 performances were held with great success. On that tour, along with the three consecutive performances at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, the two performances at Osaka Festival Hall on August 20th and 21st left a strong impression on fans. Various audience recordings have appeared for this Osaka performance as well. Among them, "DIFFICULT TO DEAL", which was made into a CD of the second day, has been highly praised by fans as a masterpiece recording that represents this day. This work allows you to enjoy the August 21st live from a new perspective. This recording with the same taper as the new sound source of "SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS" (discs 3 and 4) is a complete first appearance take that is unknown even among traders. (Although there is a slight sense of distance), it is easy to listen to with almost no cracks or distortion, and the live performance is completely recorded with a natural and neat sound image. From the opening songs “Land Of Hope And Glory” and “Over The Rainbow”, the venue was filled with excitement. The realistic reproduction of the reactions of the audience watching the performance is very interesting as a document of the venue. Compared to recent audience recordings, there are some sweet parts in the outline and clarity of the performance. However, Joe's vocals are very easy to hear from the first song "Spotlight Kid", and the sound image that emerges from the cheers and applause has a unique taste. The 1981 RAINBOW live will be a performance that reflects the fresh character of Joe and the remnants of the Ronnie era and Graham era. Joe skillfully sings Graham's signature songs such as "Love's No Friend" and "Lost In Hollywood," while Richie's playing on "Man On The Silver Mountain" and "Catch The Rainbow" reminds us of the Ronnie era. It's a wonderful listen ("Catch The Rainbow", which brings back the fantastical colors, is especially exquisite). A number of new songs appear interwoven with these famous songs and performances, giving the live performance a wonderful sense of balance. "I Surrender" has Richie's melodious guitar playing, "Can't Happen Here" has Joe's vocals and Roger Glover's bass, and the dramatic "Difficult To Cure" are all great. You'll enjoy a different feel from 1982 onwards (this shows how important Don Airey's keyboards were in the band). After wrapping up the set passionately with "Long Live Rock'n'Roll," the encore of "All Night Long" reaches a thrilling climax with a guitar crash that explodes at the end! Especially during the guitar crash scene, the excitement of the roaring audience is so vivid that you can feel the excitement of the venue with your own skin! “Smoke On The Water” was not played on this day, but the 92-minute live, supported by the excitement of the audience, is a series of famous scenes and listening spots. Please enjoy the 1981 live show, which literally shines in seven different colors like a rainbow, with this documentary touch recording!
