One of Oasis' greatest performances has finally been reborn as a definitive version this week after 28 years! The 2-day Main Road performance in Manchester, their home town, in 1996, was the midpoint of Oasis' "three great gigs," all of which are historic performances. This performance was also officially filmed, just like the Earl's Court performance, and was later used for the official live DVD "THERE AND THEN," focusing on the second day. Since the full-length version of that video was leaked, many titles, such as FLUSHBULB's "THE ULTIMATE HOMECOMING TRIUMPH," have been created using the video's audio as a source. However, since the original audio was close to a rough mix and had many defects, none of the previously released titles have been of satisfactory quality. The latest release at the moment, BAYSWATER's "MAINE ROAD 1996," also had a worse sound quality as a result of equalization, and although it is a super classic, there has been a frustrating situation of no definitive version until now. However, this release will overturn the frustration of "Main Road, which is a sound board but has poor sound quality..."! Our engineers, who worked on the popular "EARLS COURT 1995 1ST NIGHT: NEW DAT SOURCE REMASTERED EDITION" and "LEEDS FESTIVAL 2000: MATRIX & REMIX", have finally started producing the definitive version of the Main Road 2DAYS (you can only listen to this title, not the Internet source!). Let's explain the details of the sound sources for the two days below. First of all, the biggest problem on the first day of the main road is that you can hardly hear Bonehead's side guitar. In addition, the sound quality that tends to be muffled is also a problem, and none of the existing titles have been able to solve these problems. This time, we will fully utilize the latest AI technology, mastering technology, and remix technology in 2024 that we have cultivated in Noel's "FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '24" and the two previous Oasis titles mentioned above. First, AI was used to separate the sound into four parts (drums, bass, vocals, guitar, etc.), and the bonehead guitar in the left channel of the guitar track was raised to restore the original balance. In addition, the previously noisy "Cast No Shadow" was replaced with the sound source of the 2014 edition of "(WHAT'S THE STORY?) MORNING GLORY" to resolve this issue. Furthermore, the balance, where the bass in the original sound was too loud, was also adjusted. And regarding the biggest problem, the missing part at the beginning of "Wonderwall". In previous releases, measures such as fading in or AUD patches with harsh sound quality were taken, but since listeners have preferences such as "I want to listen to it in a consistent state even if there are gaps" and "I want to listen to the complete version on the day even if there is a huge difference in sound quality," it is difficult to say which is correct. This time, we have deliberately avoided supplementation (※ In the main story, we respect the SBD as it is and deliberately left the blank of a few seconds at the beginning of "Wonderwall" as it is), and included a version with an AUD recording patched as a bonus track. By choosing your favorite one and putting them together in a playlist, you can create a complete set that satisfies both of the above-mentioned needs! Next is the second day of the main road. This has had problems such as "the left and right channels are reversed in most of the previously released titles" and, even more serious, "all previously released titles have a sizzling noise from beginning to end". First of all, we succeeded in completely removing the latter noise, which is a major stress on listening. Since this was very annoying between songs and in the quiet parts of the performance, its elimination is a major achievement of the restoration in this release and also makes it easier to listen to. In addition, as with the first day, we succeeded in separating and remixing each musical sound with AI to bring out the sound of the time in a more vivid form. Furthermore, while the leaked SBD was the main focus, the three songs in the acoustic set, "Cast No Shadow", "Wonderwall" and "The Masterplan", were diverted from the audio of "THERE AND THEN". This has resulted in a compilation that allows you to enjoy the best sound quality, while also thoroughly reducing the discomfort of each source as much as possible. And the leaked SBD did not mix the horn section in the first half of "Round Are Way", but by separating and remixing only the horn section from the "THERE AND THEN" audio, it has become perfect! What's amazing is that there is no sense of incongruity between the restored first half and the rest. In addition, the loud noise that was seen in the previously released titles "Cigarettes & Alcohol" and "Champagne Supernova" was removed by patching with a different source, and the guitar in the intro of "Don't Look Back In Anger" was improved so that it sounds on from the beginning by connecting the guitar extracted by AI separation from "THERE AND THEN". In this way, while making full use of the latest technology and the remaining sources, the remix is not unnatural in "producing a sound that does not exist", but rather is thorough in its approach of "restoring the performance to its original form". This classic soundboard has been reborn with more careful work than the last two Oasis works, which have already caused a great response. This time, in the face of such thorough restoration, it took quite a bit of space just to list the improvements to the sound source, but 28 years after that great performance, the Main Road has finally appeared in a satisfactory form, and it is an undisputed definitive edition!
