In June 1978, they released "Octave", their first album in six years since "Seventh Sojourn" in 1972. The Moody Blues' Providence performance on November 23, which started a long-awaited tour with a new system incorporating former Yes member Patrick Moratz, who joined after Mike Pinder's departure, was recorded in full with a superb level of ultra-high quality audience recording. The recorder is Dan Lampinski, and you can enjoy the whole picture of the show with a high-grade high-quality sound that can be said to be exceptional for audience recordings of this era. Speaking of the sound sources of this tour, the broadcast sound sources of the LA performance in December of the same year and the Seattle performance in May of the following year are famous, but this board is recorded with a high quality sound comparable to a line recording, and it can be said that fans will definitely need a famous recording board. The ping-pong synth drums make you feel like it's 1978, but the unique lyricism and dramatic orchestration that makes it immediately recognizable as the Moody Blues are still alive and well, and the sound is impeccably persuasive. The large-scale set, which effectively mixes old and new, is wonderful, and its unique harmony and texture are very moving, and I'm sure that any prog fan will be moved by it. In addition to the powerful rhythm sound, Moratz's new synthesizer, typical of the late 1970s, fits the Moody Blues numbers perfectly, and you can feel the consistency and perfection of the sound in many places, even more so than Yes when Moratz joined. The lyrical vocals of Justin, John, and Ray are tasteful, and you can fully enjoy the charm of the sound, which is so great that it's no wonder they were so popular overseas, from the wonderful recording. This should also be said to be a great legacy of the late 1970s that Lampinski left behind. So dramatic, so dramatic. This is a masterpiece live album that will surely remain in the history of Moody Blues live performances. Live at Providence Civic Center, Providence, RI.
