Alongside VENOM, MERCYFUL FATE has had a huge influence as a source of extreme metal. Here is a miraculous soundboard album where you can enjoy their first live performance. This work was recorded at the "September 6, 1981 performance at Tostrup". This is a soundboard recording of that performance. Speaking of 1981, it was the year that MERCYFUL FATE was formed. At the beginning of the year, the predecessor band BRATS, consisting of King Diamond and Hank Sherman, began their activities, and it was also a time when they changed their name and worked hard on making demos. In order to imagine that time, let's collect some of the few records that are known. January 18: BRATS demo released - MERCYFUL FATE formed March "DEMO 1981" released April "DEMO #1" released May "DEMO #2" released June "BURNING THE CROSS" released September 6: Taastrup performance ←★This work★ September 26: Copenhagen performance October 13+31: Herlev performance This is MERCYFUL FATE in 1981. The BRATS demo released in January featured King & Hank, as well as Michael Denner and Timi Hansen, who would later rejoin. After that, they produced four demos while replacing the rhythm section and second guitar. In the fall, they took their first stage. It's a miracle that such a historic stage remains on the sound board, but the quality is also amazing. It's not the type to advertise as "completely official!", but there's no difficulty in listening. The extremely thick core, the close contact, and the beautiful separation of each instrument are just the taste of the soundboard. Moreover, the master freshness is wonderful, and there is no stiffness or twisting. Yes, if you compare it to an official product, it feels easier to listen to than the demo sound source that METALLICA put on a single 10 years later. Such a vintage soundboard depicts a historic show that will repaint the world's heavy music. Speaking of their demo era, the masterpiece compilation "RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE" is famous, so let's organize the set based on that. RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE Curse Of The Pharaohs / On A Night Of Full Moon / Return Of The Vampire Others NUNS HAVE NO FUN: Doomed By The Living Dead DEMO #1: Walking Back To Hell (Death Kiss) Not included in the demo: Sabbath Of All Witches / The Witch ... and so on. "RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE" and the debut EP "Doomed By The Living Dead" are well known. "Walking Back To Hell" is a song from the predecessor BRATS era, but some people may have heard it as the demo "Death Kiss" included in "DON'T BREAK THE OATH". However, the remaining two songs "Sabbath Of All Witches" and "The Witch" are precious songs that are not included in the above demos. Also, Hank's guitar solo performed in the encore is a must-listen. BLACK SABBATH's "Into The Void" also pops out, and their source is conveyed clearly. More than that, the existence of the live performance and the weight of history are amazing. Although the band is often spoken of as the origin of black metal, he has also had a tremendous influence on thrash metal guys, including METALLICA. Lars Ulrich liked Kirk Hammett because "he's a fan of MERCYFUL FATE, who didn't even have an album out yet," and he has publicly stated that the epic style of "RIDE THE LIGHTNING" and SLAYER's "HELL AWAITS" was inspired by MERCYFUL FATE. Of course, thrash metal is the origin of all extreme music, so if MERCYFUL FATE hadn't existed, the modern music scene would have been completely different. And this is the first live performance of such a source band. Yes, it's no longer just a masterpiece of MERCYFUL FATE, but a super important work in music history itself. Since VENOM was one step ahead of them, it's an exaggeration to say that "everything started here," but there's no doubt that "everything would have changed without this." This is a soundboard album that is nothing but a cultural heritage. And just as important is the fact that it's also a "cool metal work to listen to." It's a masterpiece of a live album that's fun to think about metal history and gets you excited. A soundboard recording of the historic first live performance "September 6, 1981, Tostrup performance". The taste of the line recording is fully open, such as the extremely thick core and the close contact, and the beautiful separation of each instrument, and the master freshness is excellent, and there is no sense of stiffness or twisting. The repertoire is particularly rich because of the early days, and you can enjoy the precious songs "Sabbath Of All Witches" and "The Witch" that do not even remain demos. The first live performance of the band that had a tremendous influence on METALLICA and SLAYER ... It is a super important work in music history that is nothing but a cultural heritage.
