Jaco Pastorius called him "a better soloist than me," Victor Wooten called him "the best bassist on the planet," Billy Sheehan praised him as "the one that makes me want to cut my arm off," and Rush's Geddy Lee revered him as a musician's musician! Jeff Berlin's latest live performance with his trio, Dennichen and Bella, is now available for the first time in a complete, high-quality stereo soundboard version! The Berlin Trio is a powerful trio led by Berlin, his partner Dennis Chambers, who has played with Berlin for many years in the extremely talented and technical group HBC, and Jorge Vera, a transcendent Latin jazz pianist born in Santiago, Chile in 1985 who surpasses Chick Corea and Michel Camilo. The members of the trio make for a full-fledged acoustic jazz performance that easily surpasses the realm of ordinary acoustic piano trios. The live performance of the Berlin Trio at Porgy & Bess in Austria on September 6, 2024 has been recorded in full for over an hour and a half on the highest quality stereo sound board, which has been carefully mastered by the label itself. This two-disc set has arrived! This live performance features a wide variety of songs across genres, from Bill Withers' "Lean on Me," the Meters' "Sissy Strut," Dizzy Gillespie to Beethoven, Chick Corea's "Windows," and Berlin's "Marabi." I don't remember much about Berlin's walking bass or Dennis' perfect 4-beat drums, but as expected of one of the best technicians of his generation, they played perfectly from start to finish! Also, the performance of the rapidly growing transcendental pianist Bella is not to be missed. In particular, the performance of Chick's "Windows," which is better than the original, is a must-listen for jazz fans! Berlin's superb solos on all the songs are also great, Dennis' drums are the best, and it's a happy live performance that makes you happy to hear that such a piano trio exists!
