In Japan, they were the original visual kei band and enjoyed immense popularity when they debuted. From their first visit to Japan in 1979 to 1981, three performances from each year of their visit to Japan are recorded in chronological order, all in master quality and soundboard sound source from FM on air. First, the live performance at the Nippon Budokan on March 6th, 1979, which is a memorable first visit to Japan, is recorded. This already legendary first visit to Japan was an unusual performance at the Budokan for a new band, even though they were almost unknown in their home country, and it became a fact that symbolizes their tremendous popularity. The live performance at that time, in which songs from the two released albums were played evenly, shot the glam/funk color of the early days on the front line, and is still talked about as a bewitching early live performance centered around David Sylvian. Then, from the following year, 1980, when they visited Japan for the second time, a live performance at the Mito City Cultural Center in Ibaraki Prefecture on March 27th is recorded. First of all, after the release of their third album "Quiet Life," which was a complete departure from the previous mixture glam sound and focused mainly on European-flavored synth sounds, the live sound also changed innovatively, and the so-called late Japan general sound image was reflected in the live performances. In particular, the four songs from the album had no live takes from this period, and this 1980 live recording had hardly been distributed until now, so this title alone makes it a must-listen. And finally, from their third visit to Japan after the release of "Gentlemen Take Polaroids" the following year, 1981, the live performance at Kyoto Daiichi Kaikan on February 23rd is recorded in full. The live performance, from the period when they had completely shed the early glam/funk colors of their previous album "Quiet Life" and established an unparalleled individuality, is close to the perfect form, with David Sylvian's sticky low vocals, Mick Karn's wide-range fretless bass, Steve Jansen's just-beat, technical drumming with many sounds, Richard Barbieri's spacey, pad-like synth programming, and the performance by the five original members, including guitarist Rob Dean, who left the band the following year, is also worth checking out. The set consisted of numbers from "Lonely Shadow" and representative songs up to that point, especially "Ain't That Peculiar," which is hard to believe was originally a Motown song, Steve and Mick's exquisite rhythm combination in "Methods of Dance," "Swing," which Ryuichi Sakamoto called "a song like Erik Satie that David wrote," "My New Career," and the title song "Gentlemen Take Polaroids," which incorporated African beats and oriental music designs, and their unique rhythm interpretation and groove were overwhelming even in live performances. And the last song was the opening song of the second album, "Automatic Gun," which was a standard for Japan visits. All three performances of the Japan tour, which are still legendary, are here in the best quality. DISC 1 : 01. Don’t Rain On My Parade/02. Love Is Infectious/03. European Son/04. Suburban Love/05.
