Introducing the ultimate album that covers rare tracks from the Paul DiAnno era! Early IRON MAIDEN from 1978 to 1981 had many detailed takes that were not included in the album, such as those provided for singles and compilations, and some of the same takes were scattered on various discs, making it difficult to keep track of the recording status. Moreover, most of them are now out of print. ``COMPELTE RARE TRACKS'', a collection of rare tracks from the Diano era, was very popular among enthusiasts who were struggling with such hardships. It was an unusually big hit for many items, and even overseas enthusiasts were talking about it, asking, ``This is the pinnacle of compilation CDs!'' and ``Where can I buy it!?'' This work is the ultimate version of that masterpiece compilation that has been further upgraded. This time, when making it into a CD, all the songs have been re-washed to the best sounding versions from all the official tracks. Furthermore, we have added rare tracks discovered last year, and we have pursued the perfection of an "album" with a unified mastering. Of course, we place the utmost importance on the official "original sound", so we do not change the tone or pitch, but the volume and sound pressure, which were different for each track, are unified. It is one that can be listened to as an "album work" without changing the volume each time. Of course, you can easily complete the many treasure takes that you couldn't hear on the albums "Maiden of Steel" and "Killers"!! Now, let's introduce each track in detail. Although the composition of this work is chronological, it contains "Disc 1 = Studio Edition" and "Disc 2 = Live Edition" on one disc. All tracks have the same three members: "Paul Deano", "Steve Harris", and "Dave Murray", but the others are fluid. I will add the side guitar and drums for each. [Disc 1: "THE SOUNDHOUSE TAPES" SESSION] (Side guitar: Paul Cairns / Drums: Doug Sampson) First of all, the legendary "THE SOUNDHOUSE TAPES" which is also the first recording of IRON MAIDEN! The original EP is a treasure that is called the "Holy Grail of MAIDEN," but in terms of "sound reproduction," it is hard to say that the low-budget cutting from the semi-amateur era is the best. Therefore, this time I was particular about the "playback sound" and instead of using the original EP, I used the version (CSK 56882) that was reissued once on the official CD in 2002. This CD is only available to those who have purchased all of the remastered series, and is limited to 666 copies. What's more, only fans living in the United States can apply, making it an extremely rare CD. Also, the outtake “Strange World”, which was recorded during the “THE SOUNDHOUSE TAPES” session but was removed, is also a digital version of “THE BEST OF THE BEAST”. In the official credits, Dave is the only one playing the guitar, but recent research has revealed that the phantom guitarist Paul Cairns also participated. This work also credits his name. This is the first recording of a historic band, and you can enjoy this legendary track in official digital sound! [Disc 1: "METAL FOR MUTHAS" SESSION] (Guitar: Tony Parsons / Drums: Doug Sampson) Next is "METAL FOR MUTHAS" with Tony Parsons joining. This is also not an analog LP from that time, but a 1996 CD single that has been thoroughly treated with official mastering. “Sanctuary” and “Wrathchild” that can be heard here are genuine original takes, different from the ones that were remade on the album. In particular, "Wrathchild" is popular from the album "Killers", but this take, which has a more primitive and NWOBHM smell, faithfully conveys the original appearance of the song. [Disc 1: "METAL FOR MUTHAS" SESSION] (Guitar: Tony Parsons / Drums: Doug Sampson) Next is the recording on the BBC program "FRIDAY ROCK SHOW". This radio take has been broadcast on various compilations such as "NWOBHM '79 REVISITED" and "ONE AND ONLY" supervised by Lars Ulrich. There have been many Air Check Boots available, but here we have recorded the best version from the 2002 out-of-print box “EDDIE’S ARCHIVE”. [Disc 1: SINGLE B-SIDES] "Burning Ambition" (Side guitar: unknown (only Dave?), Drums: Doug Sampson) "Women In Uniform" "Invasion" (Side guitar: Dennis Stratton, Drums: Clive・Bar) We have finally collected the non-album tracks of each single from the record debut era. Here, we finally get to the image of IRON MAIDEN that we know so well. In this way, this Disc 1 can be synchronized with the progress of MAIDEN in its very early stages, allowing you to experience even before the debut album. Until now, we thought that there were only two albums, ``Virgin of Steel'' and ``Killers,'' but this one is truly the ``studio album before the 1st''! [Disc 1: Bonus Tracks] In addition, two bonus songs are included, which are said to be official tracks. First of all, the treasure track “Women In Uniform (Alternate Mix)” discovered after “COMPELTE RARE TRACKS”! This was released in conjunction with the official release of the analog 7-inch reprint series in 2015. Compared to the familiar take from the CD single and PV, this is a different mix version with no side guitar in the intro and a larger chorus. However, although it was so different that you could tell from the first listen, there was no announcement that it was a ``separate mix'' at the time of release. It was a completely mysterious take, but maniacs are currently investigating it, and there is a strong theory that it is the same mix as the original British 7-inch. This work is not recorded from an analog single, but from an officially produced digital version, so you can listen to it with a super beautiful sound that is completely equivalent to the official album. Another bonus includes a demo version of "Running Free" which was mistakenly included only in the compilation "AXE ATTACK!". It's just a mistake, so we don't know when it was recorded, and we don't know if Tony Parsons or Dennis Stratton played the guitar (Doug Sampson played the drums). Although it is the only analog recording on Disc 1, the latest and meticulous remastering has eliminated the sense of incongruity with other tracks as much as possible. [Disc 2: SINGLE "SANCTUARY"] (Side guitar = Dennis Stratton, drums = Clive Burr) Disc 2 from here is the "live version". The call “MAIDEN! MAIDEN!” led us to the Marquee Club stage where the single “SANCTUARY” was recorded. Although the credits were vague at the time, there were actually two types of marquee live performances in 1980: "April 3rd" and "July 4th." This has been a source of confusion for a long time, as each album has been divided into singles, etc. for each country. First of all, there are two songs, "April 3rd" from the single "SANCTUARY". [Disc 2: EP "LIVE!! + ONE"] (Side guitar = Dennis Stratton, drums = Clive Burr) These are 3 live songs from "July 4th". Only “Phantom Of The Opera” has been digitized, but “LIVE!!+ ONE” is the only place where you can listen to all three songs at once. This is the only sound source in the history of IRON MAIDEN that has not been officially digitized. For this work, in order to create a sense of unity, all three songs were created on CD using professional high-end equipment from "LIVE!!+ ONE", which was in top condition. A particular highlight is "Drifter." "COMPELTE RARE TRACKS" was an edited version of the Greek version (3 minutes 38 seconds), but this work includes the full version (8 minutes 20 seconds). [Disc 2: "BBC ARCHIVES"] (Side guitar = Dennis Stratton, Drums = Clive Burr) The third live performance was the discontinued box "EDIIE'S ARCHIVE" which was released in 2002 and quickly sold out. from the 1980 Reading Festival. It's the best live show full of the smell of NWBHM, such as the wild performance without worrying about mistakes, the excitement of stepping on the big stage for the first time, and the tentative lyrics of "Killers". [Disc 2: EP "MAIDEN JAPAN (US PRESS)"] (Guitar = Adrian Smith, Drums = Clive Burr) The last track is the super masterpiece "MAIDEN JAPAN". Now that Adrian Smith has joined the band, you can enjoy the early MAIDEN sound that has finally reached its perfection. The standard version of "MAIDEN JAPAN" contained 4 songs (the reprint in "THE FIRST 10 YEARS" also included 4 songs), but in several countries including North America, it was a 5-song version with the addition of "Wrathchild". This work, of course, follows the 5-song specification, and uses the 1995 Castle reissue, which was the only official digital release, to achieve the best sound here as well. That's 31 tracks. Strictly speaking, there are other edited versions as well (for example, the live version of "Drifter" has a forcible fade-out in the middle, and the version of "Phantom Of The Opera" without the repeat of "Back at your lair!" at the end) ), but covers songs/takes/mixes that are different. The ultimate 2-disc set, carefully assembled from a number of official items, that can be listened to naturally even as a whole. You can listen to it as a "new official album", fill in gaps in your collection, or even if this is your first encounter with IRON MAIDEN! This is an absolutely complete album that rivals even the original albums ``Maiden of Steel'' and ``Killers'', and is a magnificent completion!
