This is a superb album that features a battle with a guitar hero who was unique in Greg Lake's life. The guitar hero is Gary Moore. Yes, this is a live album from his 1981 solo tour after EL&P broke up. This work includes the "November 20, 1981 Toronto performance." This tour is famous for the official album "GREG LAKE IN CONCERT" that recorded the KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR broadcast, but that was a performance at Hammersmith Odeon in London. This work is an audience recording of a different Canadian performance. This is a good opportunity to check out the tour dates of 1981, which was the co-starring of the century.・August 30th: Reading Festival performances ("GREG LAKE" released on September 25th)・October 9th-30th: UK (18 performances) *Official live album (KBFH broadcast on November 5th)・November 20th-December 10th: North America (9 performances)←★Here★ A total of 28 performances. It was only in the UK and North America, and it was a bit lonely for a solo activity started by the lead singer after the dissolution of EL&P, which was a huge hit. For that reason, the number of recordings itself can be counted on one hand, but this work is a famous recording known for its high quality, second only to the official album. In fact, this recording has been circulating as a soundboard for many years. As far as the hustle and bustle before the show starts, I think it's definitely an audience recording, but as soon as the performance starts, I can understand why you want to say "It's a soundboard!" The extremely thick musical tones are detailed down to the last detail, and the five-piece ensemble is tightly separated. Gary's guitar in particular is super clear from the nuances of choking to the range of vibrato fluctuation. When it comes to the fast playing of machine gun picking, each grain is a clear sound that is shot into the brain like each bullet. Of course, the pitch was also unstable, and it was made into a CD from the best master, which is in a different dimension from the previous release. The ensemble depicted with such a sound is nothing like EL&P. It is a big hard rock competition where Gary, who woke up to rock with THIN LIZZY & G-FORCE, plays and plays and plays. In the solo album "GREG LAKE", about half of the participants participated and the production was soft, so the hard guitar was slipping on the surface, but in the real live performance, it exploded with power. The guitar version of the EL&P song itself has been played in various ways in the solo activities of the three people, but Gary is different from any of them. It's on a different level than simply replacing keyboard phrases with guitars. Just as Keith Emerson was the core of EL&P, Gary has everything under control, and his improvisations are also rich in tears and howls. Especially must-listen "C'est La Vie", which was not even on the official live album. At the beginning, Greg's arpeggios paint the usual beautiful world, but Gary's guitar cuts in and instantly changes the sound world. Moreover, the dyed world is dominated by exoticism and sobbing, which is also common in "Parisian Walks" and "Spanish Guitar". The rhythm section is also clearly in the "Spanish Guitar" style, and the sound speaks of Gary, not anyone else, as the band leader. Of course, his rampage is merciless even in KING CRIMSON's "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "In The Court Of The Crimson King", which were originally guitar songs. Apparently Gary was also a fan of Robert Fripp, but he had no intention of imitating him. There are no effects on the vocals, but the violent vibrato and choking more than make up for it, depicting the insanity of a psychopath. This assertiveness is comparable to G-FORCE and the later "CORRIDORS OF POWER". Greg is also amazing because he still doesn't give up the lead role even after being pushed by Gary to that extent. His singing voice is glossy and smooth. In EL&P, he depicted the lyricism without disturbing Keith's raging keyboard, but in this work, he exudes "beauty" with a mysterious harmony with Gary's hard-edged guitar. In the later reorganized EL&P, his voice changed like a different person, but this work lets you hear the beautiful voice of the EL&P heyday itself. The main live performance is also wonderful, but this work also includes three additional audience recordings from the "December 5, 1981 New York City performance". This recording was also used for the official compilation "FROM THE UNDERGROUND VOL.1 - THE OFFICIAL BOOTLEG", and it is a superb sound that is just as good as the main story. This work includes three songs that cannot be heard in "FROM THE UNDERGROUND VOL.1", "Lucky Man", "In The Court Of The Crimson King", and "Fanfare For The Common Man". Above all, it is all about the magic created by EL&P's beautiful voice and aggressive guitar. Although it never achieved commercial success, this is a superb ensemble that can even be called "Greg's third mode" following "60's KING CRIMSON" and "70's EL&P". Although it is a sound born out of business considerations, it would be a waste to end up with such rock with just one official live album. If the two of them had stayed together, how much more amazing rock would they have produced... This is a masterpiece of a live album that even makes you think like that.
