The powerful tag team of "Prince Millard + EL&P" is back! The sister master of the shocking "LONG BEACH 1977 3RD NIGHT" has been newly excavated. The "Long Beach performance on August 11, 1977" is permanently preserved in this work. It is the superb audience recording. The scene is the same "Long Beach Arena" as the previous work "LONG BEACH 1977 3RD NIGHT", but of course (?) this work is a different performance. Furthermore, it is different from the famous recording "LOOKING OUT FOR #1" from the analog era. It overlaps with the explanation of the previous work, but first let's check the situation around there with the activity summary at that time. 1977 {March 17th release of "Quadrice"} May 24th - August 26th: North America #1 (66 performances) ←★Here★ October 15th - November 30th: North America #2 (35 performances) {November 25th release of "Work No. 2"} 1978 January 16th - March 13th: North America #3 (48 performances) ←※NASSAU COLISEUM '78 {"Love Beach" production → EL&P disbands} This is the overall picture of the "WORKS Tour" that decorated the end of EL&P at its peak. Of these, Mike Millard participated in "North America #1". There are many works only in the largest leg, and there are many masterpieces such as the official "LIVE IN MONTREAL 1977" and our store. Here, let's focus on "August" around this work and check the collection. Details for August * August 6th "OAKLAND 1977" ・ August 9th + 10th (2 performances) * August 11th: Long Beach performance ← ★ This work ★ * August 12th: Long Beach performance ← * Traditional recording * August 13th "SAN BERNARDINO 1977" * August 14th "LONG BEACH 1977 3RD NIGHT" ・ August 15th-23rd (8 performances) * August 26th: Official "MONTREAL 1977" and others ... and so on. The Long Beach performance was held with the San Bernardino performance in between, making "2 + 1 = 3 performances". The previous work "3RD NIGHT" was the final day, but this work is a sequel, but it is a live album of the first day, which went back in time. The sound that conveys such a scene is truly the work of an absolute master. In the previous work, the famous "AKG 451e microphone + Nakamichi 550 deck" was introduced and the sound was explosive, but the awesomeness is the same in this work. Although the nuances of the tone are different, perhaps due to the difference in position, it is not a difference that can be discussed in terms of superiority or inferiority. If you force a comparison, this work is a little thicker in sound, but the core strength is even stronger. "3RD NIGHT" is more vivid, and this work is more on... It feels like. While there is no superiority or inferiority in sound quality, there is a clear difference in content. Unfortunately, it is this work that is losing, and the recording start of the first song "Karn Evil 9 1st Impression, Part 2" was delayed, starting in the middle of the song. Furthermore, in the original sound released online, there was a large noise around 35 seconds of this song. This noise was corrected by our own mastering. By realizing the highest peak updated sound without discomfort, it was possible to safely preserve it forever. Such a thick mirrored sound depicts the full show of EL&P, who was at the peak of his career as a performer. The set is the same as the previous work "3RD NIGHT", but it is different from the official "NASSAU COLISEUM '78" and the masterpieces "WHEELING 1977 SOUNDBOARD" and "MEMPHIS 1977 SOUNDBOARD". Let's compare and organize them here. ELP tetralogy: Piano Concerto No. 1, 1st Movement, C'est la Vie, Tank, Pirates, Fanfare For The Common Man (incl. Rondo), etc.: Debut: Take A Pebble, Knife Edge (★★), Lucky Man, Pictures At An Exhibition, Nutrocker, Karn Evil 9 1st Impression, Part 2 (★: Incomplete), Still...You Turn Me On (★★), etc.: Hoedown, Tarkus. *Note: The "★" mark indicates songs that were not heard on the official "LIVE AT NASSAU COLISEUM '78". In particular, the "★★" mark indicates songs that were not even on the press masterpieces "WHEELING 1977 SOUNDBOARD" and "MEMPHIS 1977 SOUNDBOARD". ...And so on. A large number of "Work No. 2" numbers were also introduced in "North America #2" such as "LIVE AT NASSAU COLISEUM '78", but here we will only cover "Trilogy". In particular, "Knife Edge" from this period is surprisingly delicious. As proven by the masterpieces of YES and GENESIS, Millard's love of prog is real. And speaking of 1977, it was a golden age in which a large number of super masterpieces that established his reputation were left behind. This work is a cultural heritage album that vacuum-packs the "WORKS Tour" with a super-superb sound that shows off its potential. The original master sound of an absolute master whose existence has not even been known until now. A super-superb audience recording of the "Long Beach performance on August 11, 1977". A newly excavated master of absolute master Mike Millard, this is a masterpiece from Millard's golden age that introduced the famous "AKG 451e microphone + Nakamichi 550 deck". With a sound comparable to that of the sister album "LONG BEACH 1977 3RD NIGHT," this is a cultural heritage album that allows you to experience the "WORKS Tour" before the release of "Work No. 2" in the best possible way.
