Larry Carlton, who has participated in Steely Dan and released a great solo album, has played a brilliant guitar in the early days of The Crusaders. This is a wonderful soundboard recording made from the best master. In 1972, they released three fulfilling albums and their popularity in jazz crossover increased. Trombone player Wayne Henderson was also there, and this is a representative live performance of the original The Crusaders. The original performance of Put It Where You Want It, which is also played by the Average White Band, and the Carol King cover So Far Away are also wonderful. And the title includes a live performance at Midnight Special, which has not been excavated on video, and a live performance at the Heritage Jazz Festival in New Orleans, a mecca for jazz, in 1977, recorded on a stereo soundboard. The opening song of 1977, Keep The Same Old Feeling, is the best, and the joy of listening to the masterpieces of Wayne Henderson's 1976 album Crusaders from the South on a stereo soundboard is exceptional. Henderson had left the band on that 1976 album, so he did not participate in the performance, but the vocal songs have become dankla, and the live version is also wonderful. Of the two instruments, trombone and sax, the loss of Henderson on trombone was a major crisis, but as you can hear from the masterpiece Sweet 'n' Sour from the album Free As The Wind, Wilton Felder is blowing the best phrases as if he is living up to his name. The development of the song, which is half unison with Billy Rogers, is also goosebump-inducing.
