Since their debut, The Beatles have used EMI Recording Studios in St. John's Wood, London, as their recording studio. It is a white building that blends seamlessly into the quiet streetscape. It is an old building that dates back to 1831 and was converted into a recording studio in the 20th century. However, unlike Japan, Britain does not experience earthquakes, so it is not uncommon for buildings over 100 years old to still be in use. The studio was made famous overnight by The Beatles' last album, titled "Abbey Road." Initially, the idea of going to Everest to take the cover photo and naming the album "Mt. Everest" was floated. However, one of the members suggested, "Oh come on, we don't need to go all the way to Everest to take the photo. We can just go outside the studio and take the photo, and call the title "Abbey Road," and that's how it ended up. The studio was used as the Beatles' home ground, the jacket was shot on the crosswalk in front of the studio, and the title is the same as the name of the street, so in the 1970s the name was changed to "Abbey Road Studios". There seems to be a misunderstanding, but when the Beatles used it, it was not called Abbey Road Studios, but EMI Recording Studios. By the way, Paul's London home is a few minutes' walk from this studio. For the Beatles, the recording studio was a sacred space for just the four of them, or more precisely, only the four of them plus staff such as George Martin were allowed to participate. There were no screaming audiences, no fans chasing them. It was a private space isolated from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The heavy door was opened for the first time in 1983. Called "THE BEATLES AT ABBEY ROAD", not only could general fans tour the studio, but a documentary including precious unreleased takes was also screened. At this point, 13 years had passed since the breakup of The Beatles, but Studio 2, which The Beatles used for recording, was still in use as it was in the 1960s. This special exhibition was held from July 11 to September 11, 1983, and was open from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. During that time, the documentary "The Beatles at Abbey Road" was screened a total of 168 times. This documentary is recorded as the first time that EMI allowed Beatles outtakes to be made public. "The Beatles at Abbey Road" can be said to be the beginning of the project that continued from the aborted "Sessions" to "Anthology" in 1995. Of course, the outtakes are familiar songs now, and some were later included in "Anthology," but in 1983, it was very surprising that they were outtakes of Beatles songs that were familiar to listeners. After all, an audience recording of the film shown at the studio at this time was released as an analog bootleg. This work is a master version of the documentary screened at the event "THE BEATLES AT ABBEY ROAD", commonly known as ABBEY ROAD SHOW, held at Abbey Road Studios in 1983. Once again, this documentary was specially produced for the event at Abbey Road Studios, and it is a valuable one that was only released at this time. Therefore, all the footage that can be viewed now is leaked footage. Perhaps because of this, there were few with good image quality, and all of them were distributed with only mediocre quality. To give you an idea of how bad the image quality was, in the title released by HMC in 2016, the promotional footage inserted in the middle and the replaceable footage were replaced in detail. However, this work is a master quality that overturns conventional wisdom, and is a title that is completely recorded from start to finish with the same source. Regardless of the quality, the content was already available, but this is the first time that it has been released in this image quality with a different leak route, and the audio is recorded as it is in the original. Of course, the image quality is high, but it is only a relative evaluation and cannot be compared to today's images where high definition is mainstream, but in any case, it is undoubtedly an upgrade that has never been seen before. This documentary is of course focused on the Beatles, but the beginning includes a scene introducing Abbey Road Studios itself. It is also interesting to trace the history of the studio's use for a wide range of recordings, from orchestras to pop music, and to see Helen Shapiro's recording scenes in color. All of the Beatles' songs used in this documentary are outtakes that were released for the first time at this time, and interviews with engineer Norman Smith are inserted along the way. This work includes two versions: a version completely recorded in the original mono sound from the master copy, and another working version recorded in the stereo version. The CD is positioned as the soundtrack for this documentary. Although it includes announcements and there are many faded tracks, it is the highest quality sound ever, even compared to Strawberry and HMC, and I hope that it will give you a sense of nostalgia for listening to it at the time. This is a CD and DVD set of the 1983 Abbey Road Show. The footage, which previously only had poor image quality, is now completely recorded in high quality from the same source.
