The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin's early live performances are now available as a coupling. Disc 1 contains remastered soundboard recordings from May 2nd, the first day of the 1968 European tour. The set list, which includes early masterpieces "Lady Soul" and "I Never Loved A...", is full of classic songs that almost everyone has heard. This live title is comparable to the masterpiece "The Fillmore Concert" and the recently excavated "Live 1972" by Rhino. A band that grooves without waste. Aretha spreads soul throughout the venue. A must-listen for black music fans! Fans of 60s and 70s rock should give it a listen! Punk fans... I guess I'll skip it. Disc 2 is another legendary performance from 1971, the Montreux Jazz Festival on June 12th, and is a superb item digitally remastered from the stereo soundboard master, from the opening Kingpins' "Soul Serenade" to Aretha's main performance. Video items that record performances are already familiar to fans, but for this release, the real soundboard master is used instead of the audio part of the video. Therefore, it has achieved super clear high sound quality with no noise, and perfect quality with impeccable stereo separation and positioning of each instrument, so it can be called an astonishing release for fans. This recording was recorded about three months after the Fillmore West performance, which any fan would choose without hesitation if they were looking for an Aretha album. Enjoy this superb live recording of Aretha's finest performance in her heyday, performed with the support of King Curtis and the Kingpins (featuring a distinguished line-up including Cornell Dupree, Bernard Purdie, Truman Thomas, and Jerry Jemmott!) in official, superb sound quality.
